Color Schemes

Triatic Color Scheme
Triatic- A color scheme that includes 3 colors which are an equal distance away from one another.

The colors I included in this triadic scheme room is red, blue, and yellow, because it gives a bright feel to the room.
Monochromatic
Mono Chromatic - A color scheme that involves all different shades and tints of the same color

In this mono chromatic scheme room, I used all different shades and tints of blue, to give the room a cooler type of feel.
Analogous
Analogous - A color scheme that includes three to five colors right next to each other on the color wheel

For the analogous scheme room, i used yellow, yellow/green, green, green/blue, and blue, to give a bright and happy feeling to the room.

split complementary
Split Complimentary - A color scheme that starts with one color, adding the opposite color, and a color two colors away from the opposite.

In the split complimentary room, i used the color scheme of orange, pink, and green, to give a fun, bright feel to the room.

Color Text Questions

1. What factors influence the psychological impact color has on people?

                          Some of the factors that influence the way people see color is age, gender, culture, and life experiences.

2.  Summarize the feelings each of the following colors evokes in people: red, green, and violet.

                         Red is thought of as power, danger fire strength and passion. the bold color can make you feel energetic.
                        Green is thought of as nature like and refreshing friendly cool and peaceful.
                        Violet is thought of as royal and dramatic and goes well with other colors.

3. Name the secondary colors. What primary colors, in what proportions, are used to make each?
                   
                        Orange: Equal amounts of red and yellow.
                        Green  : Equal amounts of yellow and blue.
                        Violet  : Equal amounts of red and blue.

4.  Which color name is listed in the name of a tertiary color?

                        Yellow-Green

 5. Contrast value and intensity of color.
                       The intensity of a color refers to the brightness or dullness of a hue.

6. What are the differences between a tint, shade, and tone?

                      A tint is adding white to a color.
                      A shade is adding black to a color.
                      A tone is adding grey to a color.

7. Summarize how to neutralize a hue.

                     By adding a neutral color to a hue, it then becomes neutralized.

8. Name two warm colors and two cool colors.

                   Warm: red and orange
                   Cool  : blue and violet

9.  Identify an example of each of the seven color harmonies.

                 a.   monochromatic - pink, red
                 b.   complementary - red, green
                 c.   split-complementary - blue, red orange
                 d.   double-complementary - red, green, , yellow, violet
                 e.   analogous - violet, red violet

               Harmonies are influenced by moods, feelings, and lifestyles.

11. Summarize the guidelines for using color correctly in a room design.

             To use color correctly in a room when designing, you need to first pick one of the seven color harmonies and pick a good scheme. You then need to stay with that scheme throughout the entire room.

Element of Design: Texture

3. Vase on the table
4. Pillows

-Audible-
1. Chairs
2. Pillows
3. Paintings on the wall
4. Table

All these textures on the wall make the room look smaller and cozier. The different textures on the sofa, chairs, and pillows give a variety of looks and feels. 

Texture gives you many different effects on people. Smooth and shiney textures feel more classic looking whereas rough textures are more informal.

Most of this room is informal but there is still a classy look to it because of the placement of objects.

Element of Design: Line


Curved-  The curved lines of the curtains, stairs, chairs, and tables give the room a more creative look to the room and a feel of creativity.

Diagonal- Diagonal lines in this picture is the Chevron walls in the back. Diagonal lines make a room look more elegant, fun, creative, and classy as compared to horizontal and vertical lines that look  formal.


Horizontal- Horizontal lines give a formal look to a room such as the background walls of this room. These lines can also make the room look bigger give the room an overall wider look.

Vertical- Vertical lines make things look taller and skinnier and look very formal. In this room, the windows, curtains, and lamps create vertical lines.
